Was Superman originally a villain? Did DC really just pay $130 for Superman? Facts every comic fan should know

Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superman, who first appeared in Action Comics (June 1938). Siegel and Shuster did not realize that Superman would become a worldwide phenomenon, which explains why the duo sold Superman to DC Comics for a mere $130. The Golden Age of comics began with Superman. Not only did Superman inspire youngsters to dream beyond the stars, but comics also joined baseball as America’s national pastime.  

Superman rocketed to Earth to escape from a dying planet called Krypton. Superman’s parents, Jor-EL and Lara, sent their son Kal-El (Superman) to earth. They did not know if he would survive. Once he landed on earth, Jonathan and Martha Kent, named the baby Clark and raised him as their own son. However, the Kent’s soon learned Clark was unlike any other boy. He could snap metal in half like it was a twig. He also had x-ray vision. Superman eventually learned that his only weaknesses were Kryptonite and magic.
