When a loved one dies, it’s common for most of us to express grief. We may even wish for them to return. But we know the dead should stay dead. Have you ever wondered how you might react if a dead relative showed up at your door?
Would you hug him? Do you invite him in for coffee, or just treat him as a magazine salesperson and not even answer the door? Even creepier, what if he had died more than 20 years ago? If you find this intriguing, then you have to watch a horror series offering this scenario in two versions.
The dead have returned
So why have the dead returned?
The English version is titled The Returned, and the French version is titled Les Revenants. And no, this isn’t the movie about Leonardo DiCaprio fighting with a bear.
Without any spoilers, here is the premise for both versions: Thirty years ago, a broken dam flooded a small-town. While many residents perished, survivors rebuilt the town in the same vicinity. Remains of the former town town sit underwater like a ghost town. I preferred the foreign version over the English version. Even with subtitles, the foreign version is still creepy.
