I saw a story about the passing of Sandy Allen.
For those who didn't know, Ms. Allen was the tallest woman in the world,
according to researchers at Guinness Book of World Records. She was 53 at the
time of her passing in Shelbyville, Indiana. I was saddened by this story
because I had spoken to her on several occasions. She was a regular customer at a restaurant I
worked at back in the late 80s.
At the time, I was waiting tables and attending college. We always had a great table for Ms. Allen. She always sat next to the salad bar. When she came in, all of my co-workers would gather around her table to chat and say hello. She signed autographs for us and customers.
