Have you ever seen an attractive co-worker constantly screw up without getting fired?
Have you ever seen a less qualified, but younger and more attractive co-worker get promoted ahead of you?
If you answered yes to either question, there is a legitimate reason.
A recent study revealed that men and women both attempt to use their looks and flirtation to gain favor with the opposite sex.
For example, many of us have witnessed others get away with offenses that would most likely get us fired. These individuals are spared a pink slip because they may have a better physique, nicer hair, or a bigger smile. Fair? No, but that’s life. I won’t even mention people who get promoted for more than their office candor. Evolutionary imprints explain why women typically have better luck, according to the study.
Men place more stock in physical appearances to find a fertile mate which make them more attractive to women seeking help; and women have evolved to look for someone with ambition and resources. The study was conducted by Alastair Davies, PhD student in the evolutionary psychology lab at Florida Atlantic University.
The study involved 100 men and 100 women and will be published in a future issue of the journal titled Personality and Individual Differences. So if people treat you like garbage personally and professionally, you may need to consult with a local plastic surgeon.
