On Friday, The Miami Herald reported that Jackson Health System has canned resident Doctor Anjali Ramkissoon for attacking Uber driver Igor Belic. Video footage of the attack went viral. In the video, Ramkissoon berates and attacks Belic. She knees him in the groin and pushes him.
Belic was waiting for customer Juan Cinco, who had arranged the Uber ride. Ramkissoon climbed into Belic’s car and demanded a ride. After Belic asked Ramkissoon to leave his car, she became irate and tossed his cellphone, mail, and other personal effects out the window.
Cinco witnessed the event and filmed Ramkissoon attacking Belic. After finding another way home, He uploaded the footage to the Internet. On the video, she appeared either drunk, stoned, or both. She appeared on Good Morning America and several other media outlets to apologize for her behavior.
Doctor Ramkissoon can appeal her termination, but the video footage is damning. She said she became angry after getting dumped and learning that her father was hospitalized. However, people receive bad news every day without acting irrationally or attacking strangers. She is fortunate that Belic didn’t press charges.
