Ripley’s Believe it or Not is about incredible stories that almost seem unreal. It’s left up to the viewers to decide if they want to believe the story…or not. Even if you believe the stories on the program, have you ever thought the stories didn’t seem so incredible?
For example, Siamese twins who go years without speaking to each other? Sure that’s impressive, but how does it relate to anything today? I would be more impressed with a car salesman who didn’t try to sell me a car I didn’t want. Now imagine if Ripley’s based their stories on daily activities that the average person could relate to.
Here are some stories for you to believe…or not.
John Mills took his date Sally to a nice restaurant and then to a movie. He was interested in her dinner conversation and didn’t ask for sex on the first date…believe it or not.
Bart Williams buys a new sports car, and doesn’t tell anyone about it other than his wife and the insurance agent…believe it or not.
Sally Johnson went shopping for clothes and paid for her purchases with cash…believe it or not.
Al Martin received an email joke from a co-worker and deleted it without forwarding it to anyone else…believe it or not.
Sports fan Marion Carter watches his favorite team lose the Superbowl without criticizing the coaching, refereeing, or players…believe it or not.
Justin Arnold moves to Alaska and doesn’t act surprised or complain when the weather gets windy and cold…believe it or not.
Larry Johnson gets convicted of committing a crime and not once blames his past troubles, parents or anyone else. He accepts fault for his crime and accepts his sentence…believe it or not.
Most of us don’t care about a tribe of Indians living in the Amazon who eat giant spiders or monkeys for dinner. We may be fascinated for a few minutes but we eventually move onto our cartoons, reality shows, or something more interesting than a plate of roasted spider legs.
Believe it or not.
