Home ownership is the American dream. For my family, it has been the American nightmare. After moving into our new home, everything was peaceful. Unfortunately, our serenity ended with the arrival of our new neighbors.
The nightmare began with loud music playing into the early morning hours. I called the police several times but it didn't stop the music. After the police left, the music just got louder. It was probably our neighbor’s way of retaliating against us for calling the police.
Our neighbors then drove their ATV through our yard and tossed their empty beer bottles onto our property. After the loud music and ATV incidents, our neighbors added a swimming pool.
They began draining the water into their backyard. The overflow made it into our yard. The strong chlorine filled water killed our grass and left large brown spots in our lawn. Not only did I have a yard full of dead grass. He also had dogs that he didn’t keep on a leash. They use our yard as an outhouse.
Our neighbor has certainly tested my faith in God. After three years of prayer and gritting my teeth, our inconsiderate neighbors are finally moving.
I have heard many horrible stories about inconsiderate neighbors. Before buying our house, my family and I spent many years living in several different apartments and townhouses.
Although we have had our share of bad neighbors, we took comfort in knowing they would eventually get evicted or move. Becoming a homeowner is much different than renting an apartment. For instance, you no longer have a landlord to make your problems go away. The only weapons you have as a homeowner are prayer and patience. I am so looking forward to watching them back out of their driveway for the final time.

Oh I feel so bad for you. I've been there before and there doesn't seem to be anything worse. You don't choose them nor do anything to deserve them, they simply happen. Let's hope they default on their mortgage real quick.
