There’s a couple of funny guys in Olympia, Washington you should get to know. As a fan of horror, comedy, and grade B flicks, I am always willing to view the next “big thing.” So I just learned from incredibly credible sources that a spaceship called the JF Sebastian is floating around somewhere in outer space. Sources claim it’s operated by the always serious Captain Ryland and his capable sidekick Maurice Morris, who is the mechanic that keeps the ship in orbit.
And don’t worry, it’s miles away from Earth so it won’t be crashing down on us anytime soon. I invite you to watch “Dead Drift,” a new YouTube comedy from Ken Carlson and Matt Burdick. I have watched the first six episodes and enjoyed them all. Their brand of comedy, however, is unique. It isn’t your stereotypical comedy with the usual cardboard cutout characters like the dimwitted dad and the trophy wife with the perfect children. Growing up during the ‘70s and ‘80s, I enjoyed watching Monty Python and Benny Hill. “Dead Drift” reminded me of these old English comedies.
The first episode of “Dead Drift” is “I Got a Fax from Your Wife.” Morris finds out that his wife has declared him dead, cashed in his life insurance, took the family dog, and split! Sounds like a country song called "Sucks to be Morris!"
