The legacy of NFL great Jim Brown


On Wednesday, the Sporting News website reported the Cleveland Browns will immortalize Jim Brown, 80, with a statue outside FirstEnergy Stadium. Jimmy and Dee Haslam, owners of the Cleveland Browns franchise, wanted to honor Brown for his contributions to the NFL and society. Brown is well-known for his anti-racist beliefs and criticism of Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan for not being better role models for young black men. He played his college ball at Syracuse and became a first-round draft pick. Anyone who has either watched him run with a football can understand why fans consider him the gold standard for the running back position.
