The summer of 2008 recently gave way to fall, which is my favorite season. Nothing beats NFL football, brown leaves, Thanksgiving, and great sleeping weather. Signs of fall and winter can be found in any department store. Stores will either remove or mark down prices on short sleeve shirts, shorts, and swimming gear. The items will be replaced by jackets, coats and gloves.
The only downside to fall is that it moves right into Christmas. Santa Clause and Rudolph will be on display before Halloween candy. With Christmas comes pre-Christmas grumbling. With the economy going into a tailspin, rising gas, and grocery costs, it’s a wonder people can exchange gifts. It’s odd how people stress over Christmas since it is always on December 25.
Have you ever bought a gift for someone you didn't know or even like? We are robotic when it comes to Christmas. We visit the stores, whip out the plastic, and spend ourselves into bankruptcy.
How many of you are still paying for last year’s Christmas? To ease debt, buy gifts for a select few and give everyone else a greeting card. Try to remember that holidays are about spending time with family and friends and not going into debt.
