Even supermodels have failed relationships

Out of boredom, I watched Chevy Chase’s movie “Vacation” over the holiday weekend.

Except for the scenes with supermodel Christie Brinkley, I had forgotten what a terrible movie it was.

Brinkley has come a long way since that terrible movie. She’s preparing to end her fourth marriage and doing exercise infomercials with Chuck Norris. The media has given this growing story tons of coverage.

Here’s the scoop on the train wreck she calls a marriage to Peter Cook. They have been married since 1996 and are now in divorce court. The marriage has now turned into a battleground with custody of their two children at stake.

Cook met his 18 year old mistress at a toy store in 2004. Not only did he get some toys, he decided to hook up with the cashier who sold him the toys. Cook eventually hired the girl and paid her $20,000 to update Cook’s website at his architecture firm.

Benefits to his young mistress included: gifts of $300k, a new car, and plenty of sex at the office and Brinkley’s home…I can’t imagine the retirement plan.

Brinkley and Cook presented a portrait of a successful marriage. But behind the scenes, they relied on porn as a stimulant during the last half of their marriage. Cook admits to spending about $3,000 a month on pornographic Web sites in 2005.

So Cook needed porn to get aroused enough to be with the former supermodel? That is unbelievable.

I have a feeling that this whole divorce will only get uglier. But when celebrities do something, it’s always done on a grand stage. This includes weddings, funerals, infomercials and even divorce.
