Domestic violence has no place in our society

Fortunately, abused women in Cincinnati can get support from Women Helping Women; a local organization that supports women involved in abusive relationships.

Their website is located at http://womenhelpingwomen.org.

Domestic violence is a high risk cultural and legal issue that often contributes to death and bodily injury. Abusive relationships endanger countless American women. Not only can a relationship become mentally and physically distressing, it also involves a controlling partner. Abusive relationships may also become difficult to leave.  Abused partners may suffer different forms of abuse: physical, sexual, verbal, psychological, financial, and spiritual.

Abusers frequently have various lame excuses for their behavior. They may justify their actions with alcoholism, substance abuse, violent childhoods, or stress. Furthermore, abusive relationships are common among individuals of various cultures, socioeconomic classes and religions; no one is exempt. Both mental and physical abuse from an intimate partner can impact the victim and their children by not providing a secure home and creating fear.

Abusers will often deny their abusive behavior. Despite gender, domestic violence impacts both men and women. Regrettably, men may be less likely to report incidents because they feel embarrassed. Domestic violence seldom disappears without professional intervention. Victims of domestic violence can receive assistance from local agencies. The abused person must take the first step and contact these organizations. No one deserves to be physically or mentally abused. If you are a domestic violence victim, please find help for yourself and your children.
